The Shipping Forecast at 15 Slater Street, in the area between Bold Street and the main city centre, has been a consistently good venue for live music, DJ nights, and arts events since 2009. The building operates across three floors: a bar at street level, a basement club space, and a function room on the upper floor. The total capacity is around 350 across all floors used simultaneously.

The programming has consistently favoured independent and emerging artists over the commercial touring circuit. The booking policy across live music, club nights, and DJ events reflects genuine curatorial effort – the Shipping Forecast has been responsible for bringing several artists to Liverpool before they could sell larger rooms. The basement room has the concentrated atmosphere that the format requires: low ceiling, good soundsystem, bar in the space. The street level bar is warmer and better for conversation. The function room on the upper floor is available for private hire and hosts smaller events that do not need the full club configuration. The building retains some industrial character that suits the programming aesthetic.
