How to Book a Five-a-Side Pitch in Liverpool

Book through Goals, Lifestyles or a university facility. Compare location, surface, footwear, cancellations and term-time access before paying.

Liverpool five-a-side pitches come from three provider types. Goals Liverpool North and South are commercial small-sided centres. Lifestyles operates council facilities, with dedicated five-a-side pitches at Everton Park and larger small-sided formats across other centres. The University of Liverpool’s Wyncote Sports Ground and Liverpool Hope’s Hope Park Sports add university facilities. Book directly with the operator you choose.

Liverpool City Council’s seasonal grass-pitch service is a fourth option for teams arranging weekend matches, not a substitute for a casual five-a-side court. Decide what game you are organising before comparing availability.

01 Goals

Goals is the direct commercial route

Goals Liverpool North and Goals Liverpool South provide the recognisable small-sided model: artificial pitches, direct booking and organised leagues. Choose the branch by the squad’s regular journey, not by a small difference in an advertised offer.

Weekday evenings are the hardest block because leagues and regular teams occupy them. Ask about the exact day and time before collecting names. If the group expects to play weekly, compare a block booking with repeated one-off sessions and read the cancellation rule for both.

The branch may publish promotions, but do not copy a price into a permanent guide. Ask for the current total for the exact pitch and slot.

02 Lifestyles

Lifestyles spreads pitches across Liverpool

Lifestyles currently lists dedicated five-a-side pitches at Everton Park. It also lists football pitches at Austin Rawlinson, Cardinal Heenan, Croxteth, Ellergreen, Peter Lloyd, Wavertree Sports Park and Walton, mainly in seven-a-side formats.

Ask if a larger pitch can be booked in a suitable division or if the group needs to change format. Do not assume that “football pitch available” means a boarded five-a-side court.

Everton Park can suit a central or north-of-centre group. Wavertree and the southern centres can better suit players living around Smithdown, Aigburth, Allerton and Mossley Hill. The best booking is the one people reach every week.

Some Lifestyles sites allow online availability checks, while others direct enquiries to the centre. Follow the current site instruction rather than an older booking link.

03 Wyncote

Wyncote accepts community bookings

Wyncote Sports Ground on Mather Avenue is a University of Liverpool facility with artificial and grass pitches. Its current page confirms that students, staff and members of the community can book.

University clubs use the site heavily during term, so availability changes around the academic calendar. University of Liverpool Welcome Week begins on 21 September 2026, followed by teaching. A late-summer slot is not proof of an autumn weekly slot.

Ask which surface and pitch division the booking uses. Wyncote has several football products, and footwear rules can vary between 3G and sand-dressed artificial surfaces.

04 Hope

Hope Park needs an eligibility check

Hope Park Sports in Childwall has artificial football facilities. Its standard recreational bookings are linked to Hope membership, while external and commercial hire goes through a separate enquiry route.

That makes it useful for Hope students and a possible external option, not an automatic public checkout. Confirm who can book, who can play and which charge applies before asking the group for money.

The site can be geographically strong for Childwall, Allerton and east-south Liverpool. It is less useful if the group assumes everybody can walk from the city-centre campuses.

05 Ask

Ask seven questions before paying

What is the current total for this exact day, time and pitch? Old screenshots are not quotes.

Is the charge per pitch or per person? Calculate the split before the group agrees.

What is the cancellation deadline? Ask how weather and operator cancellations are handled too.

Which surface is booked? Five-a-side, seven-a-side, 3G and sand-dressed surfaces are not interchangeable labels.

Which footwear is allowed? The venue’s current rule wins.

Is the pitch floodlit, indoor or outdoor? This matters when autumn nights arrive.

What changing, parking and access facilities are available at that time? Evening access can differ from daytime.

The book-a-pitch page should help compare providers and direct users out to the operator. MCR.CITY does not process the booking.

06 Council

Council grass pitches serve a different team

Liverpool City Council hires grass football pitches at sites including Lower Breck, Scargreen Recreation Ground, William Collins, Bill Shankly Playing Fields and Carr Lane East. The 2026/27 service is seasonal and built around alternate weekends.

Use it for an adult team arranging league or match football. Do not send five friends there expecting an evening artificial court. Read the current allocation policy, application date and facilities class on the council page.

07 Solve

Solve peak demand and payment early

If the preferred weekday hour is gone, compare another site before moving the game much later. A slightly longer journey to Everton Park or Wyncote may work better than asking the whole group to start near bedtime.

Collect the split before kick-off. Agree how a late dropout affects payment and keep one organiser responsible for the venue account. If the squad is short, post on the find-a-game board at the five-a-side page instead of leaving the booker with the gap.

08 Short

The short version

Use Goals for a direct small-sided booking, Lifestyles Everton Park for council five-a-side, and the wider Lifestyles network for other formats. Wyncote takes community bookings; Hope Park requires an eligibility or external-hire check. Ask about surface, footwear, cancellation and access before paying. Use the council grass service only for an organised match or season.
