Liverpool has no shortage of boutique and heritage hotels, but sometimes you want a reliable international chain with a pool, a gym, meeting rooms, a bar that is open late, and a bed that is exactly what you expect. That is the Crowne Plaza’s territory and it delivers it well.
The King Street location is properly central – two minutes from Liverpool Central station, walkable to the waterfront, Liverpool ONE, the Albert Dock and the main cultural venues. For a business trip where you need to be in multiple parts of the city, nothing is more than fifteen minutes on foot.
Rooms are IHG standard throughout – comfortable, well-maintained, anonymous in a way that some travellers find reassuring. Club rooms and suites give you the lounge access and the extras. The pool and leisure facilities are a genuine differentiator if you want to swim on a Liverpool January morning.
The restaurant is serviceable without being memorable. The bar is better – lively on Friday and Saturday nights, quiet enough on weeknights for a work drink. Conference facilities are well-used by the city’s corporate sector.
