Oh Me Oh My is afternoon tea done right, which is harder than it sounds. Rooftop location in West Africa House gives you a view across the city without being so high you’re in a weird corporate space. That matters.
Afternoon tea is the three-tier thing – scones at the bottom (fresh, proper cream and jam, not the sweet shop version), savouries in the middle (sandwiches, pastries, savoury bites), sweets on top. Each tier is treated with actual care instead of being filler plates around the posh scones.
The scones are the obvious focus. They’re light, not dense, with decent rise. Fresh cream is proper cream, not the spray bottle version. Jam is good stuff. The whole thing tastes like actual baking rather than something thawed from a van.
The sandwiches are decent. Fillings are generous and chosen for flavour. Cucumber sandwiches are a thing and done properly – thin bread, good butter, fresh cucumber. They’re not the joke version. Smoked salmon, egg mayo, roast beef – all done with quality ingredients.
Sweet courses are proper pastries and cakes, not just sugar delivery systems. Macarons, tarts, things that are made properly. You taste the ingredients rather than just generic sweetness.
Tea selection is actually good. They take it seriously – proper loose leaf, given time to brew correctly, served in decent pots. Service knows tea and will guide you on what to order based on what you actually like.
Pricing sits at £20-£30 depending on whether you want champagne added or tea upgrade. It’s fair value for what you’re getting – these aren’t cheap ingredients. Prosecco or champagne adds another £8-£15.
The room is pleasant – good tables, proper spacing, views if you want to look. Lighting is right for eating properly. Music is quiet enough you can actually talk. It’s designed to be a proper occasion without being formal in a stiff way.
Afternoon tea works best on weekends. Book ahead – they take lots of bookings and it’s popular. Weekday slots sometimes have walk-in availability. Takes about 90 minutes, which is fine for this experience.
